Some thought it couldn’t be beaten, others thought they could beat it themselves, but the Corporate Cup was destined for the AFS/Venture team again in 2017, who claimed it for the fifth year in a row at the annual Bendigo Bank Fun Run.
After topping the numbers every year since 2013, 157 runners and walkers made for a sea of blue and green amongst the crowds of the 10km and 5km courses on Sunday 5 November.
The Bendigo Bank Fun Run is organised by the Bendigo Health Foundation and is the largest fundraiser for the organisation. Aside from winning, there’s more to the fun run than just the big shiny cup at the end. It gives the firm an opportunity to support the community, as well as a chance for the team and their families to get involved. It’s a great day out that all ages enjoy.
CEO Kate Mannix loves the opportunity to involve the team and their families to join in with business activities. “It’s an important date on the calendar each year for AFS/Venture to support the community, provide our team with the chance to participate in an outdoor activity that can involve family members of all ages and abilities. I love seeing the AFS/Venture logos spilled throughout the crowds of the Fun Run as they make their way around the course. No matter where you are on the day you can always spot one of us nearby.”
Thanks to the support of the local community, this year the event has raised over $100,000 for the Foundation to go towards new specialised medical equipment.
A big congratulations to Andrew Hosking (husband to AFS’ Kim Hosking), who took out first place for his age group in the 5km run.
In 2018, we challenge all corporate workplaces to beat our team record! Each year our team participant numbers gradually increase. From the first Corporate Cup we took out in 2013 with 92 participants, to 2017 with 157 participants. We look forward to the challenge in 2018.
