Working as a graduate risk consultant in Bendigo

Pauline joined AFS in 2023 having completed her Bachelor of Applied Business (Management) while still working towards Masters in Management (Project Management) at La Trobe University.

As an international student, working in Bendigo while studying provided Pauline an opportunity for connection to the local community.

Experience

Pauline initially joined our External Audit department where she audited financials from community banks. During off-peak season, she was seconded into our risk consulting and internal audit department where she found a new passion.

“Working in internal audit sparked my passion for risk management, leading me to formally transfer and become a risk consultant. I love the variety of topics, from ICT & Cybersecurity to OHSW Risk Management, human resources stands out as a particular interest for me—and the opportunity to collaborate across many different industries like health services and councils, I’ve found that very valuable."

Flexible working

In addition to the experience offered, the flexibility AFS makes available to students has helped Pauline achieve a balance between study and work.
